Everything I get to do this fall because my dream got crushed

This might be one of those notorious cases of virtue by necessity, but I'm getting really, really grateful that I didn't get into architecture school. As romantic as I find the idea of coming home after a day of lectures in autumnal weather, I can't help but feel sad, simultaneously, that those lectures would probably take place indoors, and I wouldn't get to enjoy the season as much as I normally would.

Except that I didn't get into architecture school - so I get to spend as much time outdoors in the seasonal weather as I want! Thank you, God!

Also, having been a freshman in uni before, I know how soul-sucking it can be to be forced to attend classes that you find utterly unnecessary with respect to what you want to do after you graduate. ("Forced" is the wrong word, though. No one is forcing anyone to study in the university. But some courses are mandatory to get a degree, and degrees are what school is all about. Although I know I don't really think degrees are all that important. Practical experience trumps theoretical every time. So why did I even want to get into the school in the first place, if, by my own ideology, I should just quit stalling and start my own consultancy? The degree. Right. Because of... prestige admiration from strangers street cred.)

So, after all that ado, here's a list of all the things I'll have time to do now that I didn't get into architecture school:

  1. Enjoy the autumnal weather, and do so to my heart's desire.
  2. Plan and execute a mind-blowing penthouse decoration project. (Looking at my plans, it'll be epic. I can't wait to get to spend Christmas in said decorated penthouse.)
  3. Study architecture - the kind I'm actually interested in, instead of whatever the school would deem important to study.
  4. Found the consultancy.
  5. Spend time with the family.
  6. Read books.
  7. Plan the December holiday.
  8. Have a December holiday. (I don't know if I could've taken the entire month off, had I enrolled at the school.)
  9. Spend a day - several days even - walking around the city with a pumpkin spice flavored coffee.
  10. Take a trip abroad in the middle of the week.

Looking at this list, I really did dodge a bullet with the entrance test. Can you imagine having to forgo all that juicy goodness?
