Happiness right now

My office has a glorious view over a small train station midst an abundance of trees the leaves of which are turning as we speak. In fact, the view is spectacular regardless of the season: in the summer, the trees make the view vibrantly green; in the winter, it's dark and the lights of the train station create a moody ambiance; and now, in the fall, there's the explosion of color. (Spring is the only time it really doesn't impress me much.)

Anyway, looking at the view, I'm inspired to list some reasons for happiness lately - some small glimpses that remind me how glorious it is to be alive.

  1. Swimming in the lake early in the morning, when there's mist hovering over the water and the colorful trees surround the shores in the distance. The air is cold (40 F), but the water (60 F) feels warm in comparison. The sun is rising somewhere beyond the trees.
  2. Looking at the town lights down in the valley, in the dark after sunset, from atop the hill where I live.
  3. Thanks to the cooling temperatures, getting to wear an almost equestrian country style outfit while walking the dog: a warm knit, knee-high boots, a long brown coat, and gloves.
  4. Feeling light again after suffering from fiber-induced bloating and general discomfort.
  5. Being inspired by inspiring people, who make me feel like all I need to do is exercise my courage muscle to be and achieve anything I want.

Nuff said, I think.
