I watched The Boy and the Heron
Just dropping by to say that I finally watched Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron from 2023. And it was good. Good as in Spirited Away level good.
I also think our dog is depressed because I took away the blanket he was tearing off and swallowing pieces of. (To console him, I'm playing fetch with him as I write this - a game the rules of which he still doesn't get.)
But back to the movie -
- The theme of moving away from home is present, like in many other Miyazaki films.
- It's a coming of age story, which also is typical of Miyazaki.
- It's not necessarily a story about the battle of good and evil (apart from the fight that goes on in each of us, which is the most important of all), but about responsibility. Among other things. I guess. (Miyazaki films are notorious for being multifaceted.)
And then another thing: I just saw a teaser for the new Mission: Impossible movie and darn, does it look great. I can't wait to see it.
RK out.
