In the chaos of the Penthouse project, I completely forgot my favorite hobby
Update on the Penthouse project! But first, an observation: there are two kinds of people in the world: those that love to see other people struggle, and those who get inspired by the success of others. While, for deep unconscious reasons stemming from my need for psychological hygiene, I belong to the second group, I can see why the first group is probably more substantial. Just look at how popular those "I got laid off" videos are on YouTube.
This unnecessarily long overture is meant to lead to what I realized about my own Penthouse project, or rather, my documentation of it here on WIP: not everyone is going to like it. I mean, just calling it the Penthouse project might turn people off. Like I were trying to show off my wealth. Some, if not most, people would rather see me rant about hating my life and how difficult everything is and how I cry every day. But I'd rather not lie. I love my life. I don't remember the last time I cried. (Or maybe it was a couple of days ago, when I accidentally poured some water down onto the balcony of our lower floor neighbor. I felt so bad. Hopefully he didn't have anything valuable there.)
Anyway, in a nutshell: I like to read and watch people do inspiring things, because it inspires me, and that's why I talk about decorating our home - in case someone else (or just the future me) is the same way and gets inspired.
However, there has been one major negative side effect of me focusing on the Penthouse project: I'm so behind on reading my yearly dose of Calvin and Hobbes. As I mentioned the other day, one of the best gifts I've ever received is The Complete Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson. I got it for Christmas several years back and immediately made the decision to read the whole thing through every year. The collection is divided into three massive books, so as long as I would go through one in four months, I would be on track.
Well, it's freaking September and I'm still on book 1.
And yes, I blame the Penthouse project, mainly because the bird cage inconveniently blocks the part of the bookcase where I have all my Calvin and Hobbes, and I haven't been able to move the bloody thing until the bookcase extension pieces are done being adjusted for the ventilation unit on the wall, because then I can hang up the bird cage and get to the books. And the extension pieces are almost done, they just need sanding, assembling, and putting in place. Then I can hang the bird cage, and then I can get to the books.
Excuses.
The truth is that I could have just lifted the bird cage a little to get to the books.
I just forgot.

(Oh right, I was supposed to give an update on the Penthouse project...)
