Ordering my yearly green cake
I've probably mentioned in the past that I have a start-of-December tradition: ordering a Swedish green cake from a bakery and enjoying it wholeheartedly. It's one of my favorite cakes, and I only have it once every year - in the beginning of December - and for years now, I've ordered one from this specific bakery that knows how to make it just the way I like it.
Well, the unexpected has finally happened: the specific bakery is updating their website, so their online order form is out of service. Sure, I could call the bakery and order my cake via phone, but I've decided to see this as a sign from God to try another bakery for once.
Naturally, the default choice would be to try my local bakery, the one near where I live. I've shopped there a lot over the years, they make good bread and excellent pastries and they have a friendly staff. Their green cake is slightly more expensive than that of my usual bakery, but the difference isn't so significant as to make it a deal breaker. Plus, their online ordering form seemed to be working beautifully.
So I ordered their cake. They had an option for home delivery, but since the shop itself is so close by, I decided to pick it up myself. Who knows, perhaps I'll end up buying some bread and pastries while there. And a mug of mulled wine to go, in case it's a chilly winter day.
Fingers crossed that their cake is at least as good as the one I usually have!
