It's no secret that I love Lego. It's one of my favorite hobbies, alongside reading and movies and walking and planning Christmas and listening to the wind and going outside when it's rainy and sailing and road tripping and swimming and drinking coffee. I love visiting Lego's website and scouring it for future releases, I love planning to buy the sets, I love buying them, and I love assembling them.
But!
How many Lego sets am I allowed to buy?
What I mean is that surely there's a limit of how many unopened Lego sets one is allowed to own and have stored in the basement, waiting to be opened and assembled, before one is forbidden to buy new ones.
I've lost count.
I recently bought the Weasley house, and today I got the River Steamboat. Both remain unopened, because I'm still working on the Tudor Corner. This would sound quite reasonable, except that
I also have at least Diagon Alley, Holiday Main Street, Kingfisher, one Indiana Jones set, and Natural History Museum, unopened, waiting in the basement.
What's more, I'm dying to get Santa's Workshop, the Orient Express, and the Botanical Garden - all at once and immediately, of course, before they're gone.
Today, when standing in front of the boat in the store, I pondered: do I refrain from buying it because all I need in life is my family and everything else is just extra, or do I buy it specifically because I do have my family and the means to have all the extra on top of it?
(The pondering did not take very long, though.)
