How to be a holy fool

Holy fools!

And not necessarily in the biblical sense - I'm not sure I understand what a biblical holy fool is, apart from being the purest and most innocent type of Christian - but in the sense of the Homer Simpsons and the Prince Myshkins of the world.

First of all, just because there's the word fool in there, it doesn't mean that they're idiots (even if Myshkin is literally the protagonist in a novel called The Idiot) or of lesser intellect (because too much intellect can make you pretty darn stupid) or of lesser value (because it's often more valuable to be a little foolish than to apply your reason to everything).

No; a fool is exactly what you want to be. Especially a holy fool - so not only of the perfect amount of silly, but also the perfect amount of silly in the perfect way.

Second of all, here's how to be a holy fool:

  1. Stop overanalyzing everything.
  2. Trust that everything will work out in the end, much like Kierkegaard's knight of faith.
  3. Implement a happy-go-lucky attitude.
  4. Redirect your energy so that it flows outward, not inward.
  5. Do whatever you want, emphasis on want, meaning, whatever makes you happy or brings you meaning or fulfillment, regardless of what others think or what's considered expedient or a "good strategy".

Reap the benefits.

RK out (to pack my stuff in a small bundle).
