This morning, my partner and I were taking a light stroll at a shopping center. At one particular shop, he told me to bugger off (but, you know, courteously), so I went to see about some Christmas bed sheets in another shop. A moment later, he entered the sheet shop with a wide grin on his face, waving a paper bag that was apparently full of Christmas presents he had found in the other shop.
Darn it - he beat me to it! I was absolutely sure that I would get most of my gift shopping done before he'd even start!
This time, it was me who hadn't even started yet!
So, naturally, I had to rectify the situation immediately, and getting back to the office a moment later, I took action and ordered some presents online.
This is all to say that I have finally started Christmas gift shopping, 2024 edition.
Finally.
In November.
Remember when in August 2018 I asked you if it was weird if I started Christmas shopping in August?
Another fun perk about Christmas shopping - I'm much less neurotic and scarcity-mindset-bound when buying Christmas gifts for others. I'm happy to spend money on my loved ones. It's much harder to buy stuff for myself.
Today, ordering those gifts online, it was more like yes that one and that and that and what about that oh yes that one too, let's order it all.
What's more, today was just the start. I'm nowhere near done. I get to demolish my neuroticism with excessive gift shopping for over six more weeks to come!
RK out (probably to buy more gifts).
