After some time of building the Lego River Steamboat, it's finally done! Unlike with the Gringotts set, I didn't have a habit of building one bag a week. Instead, I built one bag whenever I wanted to. At times, it was one a day; at others, one every two weeks.
But now it's done! And it's glorious! One of the finer feats of Lego engineering I've had the pleasure of assembling in a while!
Here are some of my favorite things about the set:
- The engine - the rudder turns when you turn the helm, and the paddle wheel rotates when you push the boat forward on a surface.
- The way the piston engine moves up and down when you rotate the thing that controls it.
- The bridges that go up and down when you rotate the thing that controls them.
- The stairs on deck.
If there's anything the set lacks, it's passengers and a decent cabin for overnight visitors (there's only one cabin and it's for the crew). But who cares, maybe the boat only travels short distances in the daytime!
Now, onto the next big problem in my life, which is: do I wait for December to build the Diagon Alley set next, or do I have time in November to build a smaller one between now and then?
