After watching John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) last week, I mentioned that I'd be continuing my movie Wednesdays with more horror movies in the upcoming weeks. Yesterday, I watched Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Here are my thoughts about it:
- It's a nice slasher. I was positively surprised by the amount of blood involved.
- The villain could have been scarier (perhaps a little less human).
- Halloween was better.
- Johnny Depp was excellent.
There's something about the cinematography and the image quality in older movies that I really enjoy. Especially in movies from the 70's. It suits horror movies particularly well.
Next week, it's probably time for Friday the 13th (1980).
RK out.
