You know how people hype up stuff and then you try it and you have your hopes up because of the hype and then the stuff doesn't quite live up to the hype?
Well. The exact opposite happened with me and the new Mission: Impossible movie. People said it was crap. Mainly The Critical Drinker. And my father-in-law. Prehaps someone else as well.
But I'm a big fan of the series, and I'd been looking forward to this one since M:I 7, so obviously I was going to see it in theaters regardless of what people said. Yet, based on people's reviews, my expectations were low, but I went anyway, just for the sake of my own fandom.
And it was so much better than I excepted!
Sure, it's not as good as Fallout or Ghost Protocol. But man! The Sevastopol scene was so good! And the plane sequence! Furthermore, unlike most movies today, they even went through the trouble of setting up certain things beforehand so that they wouldn't seem like deus ex machinas!
Furthermore, compared to the absolute bullcrap that passes as movies today, M:I 8 is in a league of its own!
That's all I wanted to say. (And now we play the waiting game of when the next Nolan movie comes out.)
