Remember how 2.5 years ago (I can't believe how fast time is flying by) I talked about the middle child syndrome and wondered why most of my personality traits were more that of the oldest child, despite being the middle one in my family?
Well, today I caught this video from Rich / Entrepreneurs in Cars where he explained how birth order affects long term relationships and which children pair best with which. Apparently he had once had a youngest child girlfriend, which should have worked well with him being the oldest child, until he realized that the girl was the surprise baby of her family, being born 8 years after her next older sibling. And thus, having no immediately close-aged siblings, she took on the characteristics of an oldest child, making her an impossible match for Rich.
Apparently, the cut-off age difference for a next child to become another oldest child is 5 years.
Well, guess what? My older sister is 6 years older than me. What's more, my younger sister is 6 years younger than me. So, technically, we're all oldest children - all independent and strong-willed natural born leaders. (I wonder if our parents knew about this theory and planned our age differences meticulously.)
Either way, this nicely explains everything, and I will accept it without further thought.
