This year has been unusual, to say the least. Weird, even. Reasons to follow later.
For example, I was quite narrow-mindedly focused on one new project from January 1st to June 4th. After June 4th, I've basically done nothing but read books (if you don't count another new project that kicked off June 24th, but let's not go there yet).
That's right - I've been stretching out on my office sofa, reading all day, feeling no guilt about it whatsoever.
Here's my summer 2024 reading list:
- The Bible (several authors). Not really summer reading, as I started in January already, but I am reading it during the summer as well, so perhaps it counts.
- The Fountainhead (Ayn Rand). Such an easy and pleasurable read - just as summer reads should be.
- Atlas Shrugged (Ayn Rand). Picked it up the moment I finished the aforementioned. More political and perhaps not as much of a pleasurable summer read, but still fun. Got about two thirds left.
Now, if there's time, I might add...
4. The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas). I haven't read it in three years, but some books are so good that you need years to process them before going for them again.
I've also been glancing into some of the rooms at
5. You Are the Placebo (Joe Dispenza)
6. The Sleeper Awakes (H. G. Wells), and
7. A Pattern Language (Christopher Alexander).
So much to read before the summer ends, because come autumn, I have to read The Phantom of the Opera (Gaston Leroux) before seeing the opera of the same name.
RK out.
