Summer wisdom #2

We are continuing this week of summer wisdom - things I've learned over the years! You can check out yesterday's piece of wisdom here. Without further ado, here's today's.

Summer wisdom 2:

Whatever your ethcal system may entail, there are deeds that are right, and there are deeds that are wrong. Everything in between is evil.

This goes back to when I first started reading Ayn Rand. She has a very black-and-white view of the world, and so do I - but not in the way most people think. I don't think there's just one idea of right and one idea of wrong. I think morals are subjective, and the black-and-white element for me comes from the idea that your actions are always either right or wrong depending on your morals. But if you try to do something that's neither (or both), you're committing an act of pure evil, which is completely different. And that's the part that Rand would agree on.
