I was supposed to give an update on the Penthouse project yesterday, but as it happened, I ventured into a rant about Calvin and Hobbes and bird cages. Oh well. What can you do... except give an update on the Penthouse project today!
So, here's the situation of situations!
- The extension pieces are sawed. This is major. Tomorrow, the bookcase will be complete, the top will be level, I'll get to hang the bird cage, and everything will be glorious.
- In other major news, I got a piece of wood (like a shelf) and screwed it onto the TV cabinet. Now the whole thing is one piece, instead of three pieces moving around. All I need to do now is properly attach some extension pieces on top of the new shelf, paint the shelf black, and add more shelves wherever I want to. (And maybe adjust the doors a little, but that's literally picking nits.)
- I have successfully procured some sample fabrics for the headboard and chosen the best one.
- The nightstands are still MIA.
The worst part is that a friend of mine is coming to dogsit next week, and I really hope I get the place in order by then. I might not have the headboard or the nightstands or the chandelier by then, but at least there won't be any random pieces of wood lying around, and the balcony will no longer look like a lumberyard. And compared to what the place has looked like since we moved in, that is major progress!
