Everything is awesome, and not just because it's fall, but also because I've made significant progress with the Penthouse project, and I'm just dying to talk about it, so here goes. (A single sentence as a whole paragraph nicely breaks my rule of having at least three sentences in a paragraph. Though it's a rule I often break for rhetoric purposes.)
- The TV stand is done! After taking it apart and then putting it back together to design side extensions that definitely would not work, I took the whole thing apart, sawed a third of the upper wooden shelf off, tried sawing a third off the metal lower shelf only to realize the process was so slow that it would take my entire life to complete, after which I thought about buying a metal blade for my jigsaw and do it that way, but then deciding to give these massive pliers I found a try and soon enough, a third of the shelf was gone without me having to saw metal. I taped the metal edge so that any remaining sharpness around the edge would not kill anyone, reassembled the TV stand, and now the computer sits nicely inside it. Man, I'm good.
- With the momentum from the TV stand success, I sawed the TV cabinet bookcase pieces that needed shortening. The TV fits in nicely now. I also tried the doors with regular 95 degree hinges and I can easily see the whole TV from where I sit on the bed, so perhaps I don't need to worry about installing those 153 degree hinges after all!
- I lifted the TV up onto the now extra wide cabinet shelf, and as I said, it fit so nicely that I began working on the doors right away. There's a slight gap between doors 2 and 3, but this can be fixed aesthetically by leaving another gap half the size of the first gap between doors 1 and 2 - which should be quite easily achieved with some clever jointing. And clever jointing, my dear reader, is my middle name.
- I also began changing the handles in the kitchen, and I must say that I chose the new handles well - they fit the overall vibe we chose for the Penthouse, and they make the kitchen look both prettier and a tad more modern and high end. I only need about 12 more and I'm done.
All there's left to do is to finish the TV cabinet, make some bespoke nightstands, and find some ceiling lamps. And get rid of the divan or reupholster it. And saw the rest of the extension pieces and put them into place. And I guess I need a new rug for the bedroom, and some storage under the bathroom sink...
But the point is, I have immense momentum, and it could take the whole project to the finish line!
