So I was having dinner at an app restaurant with my sister a couple of weeks back. (Yes, me, at an app restaurant. Obviously I couldn't visit a restaurant like that by myself, not owning a phone that could do apps, but luckily, my sister has the app, and we could order using her account. Furthermore, she's relatively good company at times, so there's also that.) We ordered some tapas and drinks via the app, and it turned out that the app also had some conversation starters, something which my sister and I definitely do not need, but we checked them out anyway. The first one was:
What's the best gift you've ever received?
I immediately thought of the laser distance meter I had just got from my partner for my birthday, but obviously I've gotten great gifts apart from that as well. Here's a list of some of the best gifts I've received, not a conclusive list, without explanations, and in no particular order:
- The laser distance meter.
- The Complete Calvin and Hobbes.
- A handmade golden snitch that doesn't say that it opens at the close, but I bet it will since the thing is hollow but I don't want to break it to see if there's a resurrection stone inside.
- The Dyson Airwrap.
- A top that says: "This is my human costume. I'm really a platypus."
- A set of mixtapes with random music from the 90's.
- Some exquisite pieces of jewelry.
Looking at the list above, my heart bursts - it seems that the people I care about care about me, too.
