40 days until Christmas 2024

Have I ever mentioned that I'm a Christmas person? Probably not. Oh well, it's about time I do.

I'm a Christmas person.

I love everything Christmas - the ambiance, the darkness, the food, the consumerism, the religious aspect - everything. What's more, my Christmas enthusiasm gets bigger every year, as I add things and rituals to my December-only list. Swedish green cake is already a staple, as well as watching Knives Out on November 30th as I wait for the month to switch, as well as Harry Potter themed ambiance videos, as well as chocolate truffles, as well as tree decorating, as well as The Office US, as well as making my famous rutabaga casserole, as well as waking up really early only to make cinnamon-flavored coffee and stay at home in pajamas all day - to name a few.

Younger rituals include watching the newer Jumanji movies, getting a whole box of donuts, and reading Christmas themed short stories.

This year, Christmas has to be extra special, since it's our dog's first. We have to convince him of the awesomeness of December. I think I'll get him a cute Christmas sweater to wear all month, as well as special treats.

Another ritual that I could add this year is having whipped cream ready at hand at all coffee-making times so that I can one-up my festive beverage game. I could also play a specific video game (on top of our incessant Modern Warfare sessions), like Bioshock or Hogwarts Legacy.

I could also make jam and give jars of it to people as gifts. I made fig jam once, years ago, and it was fun. (I refuse to make chocolates as I'm sure I'd mess up the tempering part.) Homemade, personalized gingerbread cookies could also be a whimsical idea.

Either way! It's 40 days until Christmas Day 2024! And, in case you missed it, here's the 40-day article from 2018.

Wait... so... I'm supposed to be getting gifts already? Was I such a horrible overachiever six years ago?

Though wasn't that the year when I did too much too early?

Yes. Yes it was.

So I should definitely NOT do all the gift shopping right now, but save it for later - for that wonderful December ambiance!

Good. It's a deal.

RK out.

P.S. Thinking about December and planning the activities and gifts is definitely not prohibited, though, so I might as well do that!
